Just Another Review

Title: Before I Fall
Author: Lauren Oliver

I just finished reading that book about an hour ago and WOW it was great! I absolutely adored the ending! I can really picture this book being made into a movie with narrations and a few flashbacks included, everything is described in such detail that the story just unfolds in your mind as a movie!

Before I Fall is about a girl called Sam Kingston (kept making me think of USBs) who is in high school and is part of the popular crowd. She has the kind of cliched life where she used to be a dork and at the bottom rung of the social ladder until the school's most popular girl decided to make her her best friend. This little group of 4 included Lindsay (the girl I was just talking about), Ally, Elody and Sam.

At first, you would think that they were those typical shallow, materialistic, popular girls who only hung out because they needed their own posse and could stab each others' backs without a second thought. However, as you read on, you would realise that these 4 girls really loved each other and thought of each other as family, doing stupid things together that you can only do with your bestest friends in the world.

Basically, Sam dies at the start of the book. This is so not a spoiler because it's clearly stated in the synopsis on the back cover. So how can the main character die in the first chapter? It's because (like the cover states)  she dies and wakes up again on the morning of her death, forced to live through her last day alive again.

Pretty soon she realises that she's been given a second chance, a chance to 'get things right'. But not only is there a second chance for Sam, she also has a third and fourth and fifth and sixth and seventh chance! Yes, you read that right, she relives her last day SEVEN times.Wait I'm sorry, Day 1 was the official day she died, which means she relived her last day SIX TIMES. Oh this is just too confusing to explain. In short, she gets seven chances to live her last day right.

She spends her first few chances doing stupid things just 'cause she can. But the story gets more and more meaningful as it goes on. By the seventh day, she has changed into a different person and finally knows what she has to do to move on. I'm not telling you what, you go read the book.

The story is about an average girl who lives a life like many others. It's about how she learns to appreciate the little things in life and about realising how important certain people are to you. It makes you think about your own life and wonder what you would change if you knew this was your last day alive. How would you want to be remembered when you're gone? What memories will you leave behind? What will your last words to your loved ones be? Will you regret the decisions you've made so far and how can you change them? It's about living and sacrifice, learning from your mistakes and most importantly, accepting the repercussions of the choices you've made.

And I have to say, the last sentence of this book gave me chills. Don't skip to the end, read to the end.

Before I Fall comes highly recommended. Prepare a box of tissues if you're the emotional type.

M is for Megawesome

HELLO WORLD! I have an announcement to make! MEGAN TEOH IS LIKE THE BESTEST FRIEND EVER!

This morning I had my first ever paper for STPM and right before I got to school, I realised something with a shock - THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I DIDN'T GET TO CHEERS WITH MEGAN BEFORE A MAJOR EXAM!!

Ever since we became friends in Form 2, Megan and I have made it a ritual to cheers each other right before any exams we have and so, for every paper in PMR and SPM, we clinked bottles and cheers-ed (is this a real word?? who cares!)!

However, as we all know, MEGAN IS NOT IN FORM 6 AND IS NOT SITTING FOR STPM!! Hence, I started getting a little disappointed about no cheers-ing and texted Megan. Less than a minute later, I got a reply!

"Aww... Come come! Fake cheers. Ok i'm holding my tumbler now. *fake cheers!* gulp. Ahh..."

YAYY!!!! Haha even from approximately 2km away, Megan can still cheers with me! This is only one of the reasons why she's such a Megawesome friend! She is honestly the most thoughtful and considerate friend anyone could have, with the purest heart imaginable! Even to the point of naivety...

Night before my exam, I signed into Facebook and found a message by Megan with a picture attached. It had a '+' sign and a drawing of a petrol pump with petrol dripping out of it. The title of this picture was -you guessed it- JIA YOU! Hahaha typical Megan. She also wrote that she couldn't send offline files through MSN and knew that Facebook is the second place I frequent the most. HOW WELL YOU KNOW ME, MEGAN!

By the way, she did another drawing similar to that before my trials too. 'ALL THE BEST FOR YOUR TEST' very nice drawing made with Paint.

Another thing, Megan is never too busy for you. Need someone to rant to? She's there. Need some advice? She's there. Just wanna share some stupid video or picture? She'd love it. Need someone to accompany you to some dinner/event? Megan's your girl! She's even willing to dress up as a 'German' girl just 'cause you asked her to! (Pretty braids, Megan!)

Ok so Megan might be blur at times and need you to explain a joke to her. But nobody's perfect! And she's as close to perfect as any friend can get! Especially for someone like me who talks a lot and needs someone to listen without worrying you're boring her. :P

Oh yeah and let's not forget Megan introduced me to Skype's awesome secret emoticons. She's the M to my M and we live in a world of colourful pellets of chocolates!! Sometimes with nuts included!! :D

All in all, I LOVE YOU, MEGAN! (Let's see if you'll see this post *smirk*)

May I Take Your Order?

Somehow, today I was thinking about the days when I used to work in HD and I found that I really really really really miss working there. :(

It's not the workmates. Missing the workmates isn't too bad because I can walk by and see them anytime or go out with them anyway. It's the things that are unique to work and can't be done anywhere else that I miss. Such as taking people's orders, recommending new items, telling them not to order the fondue, etc...

I remember once there was this big table sitting at table 11-13 and I went to take their order. They were wondering whether they should order the fondue or something else and asked me 'Do you think we should get the fondue?' I asked if they actually wanted the fruits and biscuits and they were like 'No, we don't really want the biscuits, we just want the chocolate sauce.' so I just told them 'Then don't get the fondue, get the Seventh Heaven or Paradise, depends on how many people wanna share it and you can always order extra chocolate sauce.'

They said 'That's not a bad idea! I think we'll get both!' and they also ordered some Banana Splits. It just makes me SO HAPPY to make people happy. I wonder if that's some sort of syndrome...

And then there's the kids! Not the spoiled annoying ones who demand things, but the cute, shy ones whose faces just light up when the ice cream arrives. I always feel like I'm bringing them a rainbow or something, watching their big smiles and bright eyes. Let's not talk about when that kid puked and I had to clean it up though. Boys are just useless...

Oh and let's not forget the cute guys you get to ogle while working. It's just your curse to be ogled if you're hot so live with it. Not long after I started working, there was this table with 4 people: a couple with another guy and his mum. So from what I could tell, the older woman was mother to the 2 guys and the girl was one's of the guy's girlfriend/fiancee/wife. I was running up and down the stairs all night and knowing me, I was sweating already.

So when I was taking this particular table's order, the mum and girlfriend were off to the toilet or something and the 2 guys were ordering. After I recommended some stuff, (Cappuccino Truffle is a must, and also Paradise if you're sharing) I repeated their order and asked 'Anything else?' and the guy with the girlfriend was like 'Yeah my brother here was wondering if he could have your number.' and his brother was like shooting him looks and going 'Har har he's just joking....' and I just said 'Nope, but you can have my shop's number.', feeling secretly flattered. (The brother who asked could've been just trying to put his brother in a bad spot to make him embarrassed but I don't care!) Can't deny the single brother had really nice eyes though, he was kinda cute.

Hahaha this reminds me of how people had to ask me 'What's your name?' because all my name tag said at the time was 'Trainee, Junior Crew' and then after telling them my name, they would go 'How do you spell that?' That was kinda fun somehow. Sometimes I forgot my name wasn't on my name tag and thought to myself 'Can't they read?' Mean yet true. :P

Another thing I miss a lot: THE TAIWANESE FAMILY!! Honestly, they were my favourite regulars. Always speaking with their Taiwanese accent and always so friendly, you just can't not like them! I hear they don't come every week now, just some weeks. I remember how they came as a family but didn't talk much, mostly just doing their own thing. Mum would be doing Sudoku or something, Dad would be playing with his iPad, Son would be reading his book (mostly thrillers and crime novels). The son had super long hair that all the girls envied and always wore plain, black T-shirts with jeans and steel-toed boots, thought sometimes he wore loafers. WHAT AN ADORABLE FAMILY! They also brought along their daughter and her family when she was out (I guess from Taiwan??) She has 2 kids, 1 boy and 1 girl, kinda cute and not noisy at all! (I like)

I miss working... I wonder if it'll be the same if I worked somewhere else. We shall see next year. Not sure if anywhere can live up to HD... but I could be biased. :P

Until next time, my dear, abandoned blog!! (haha no one reads you anyway, except me!)

HELLO WORLD I'M BACK!

HALLOOOOO PEOPLE! (read that the way PistolShrimps says 'HALLOOO YOUTUBE!')

I realise I've abandoned my blog for about a year already and it has been decaying bit by bit in that period of time but GUESS WHAT?! I'm blogging again! At least I'm blogging ONE POST. So.... if I abandon my blog all over again after today you can't blame me! :P

The person you have to thank for inspiring to blog again is Tan Yi Ling. Just 'cause she mentioned I haven't blogged in a long time. XD Today's post is gonna be about my latest updates!! Plus I just wanna see if anyone actually looks at this thing. Megan, still got your RSS feed? Hahah bet not! Now that you no longer use your pc. I think....

OK SO WHAT'S NEW?!

First up, I resigned from work. Yeah.... Major change I needa get used to. Today's the first day I am no longer a part of the Haagen-Dazs junior crew and I don't feel the pain yet. But maybe that's 'cause I don't usually work weekdays anyway. :P I even made sure I have a jam-packed weekend all planned out this weekend to distract me from.... stuff.... HOWEVER! I have the best workmates on Earth and they bought me 8 SLICES of Secret Recipe cake as a farewell party for me. THANKS SO MUCH YOU GUYS though I know you guys don't know my blog exists! They made my weekend an extremely happy one. :D

Next up, someone said something that made me MELTTTTTTT!!! Very sweet sentence that shall not be mentioned here. But that made me happy too! With a great big dopey grin!!!

Another awesome thing! My darling, Charlie uploaded another video, looking oh-so-charming with his wavy brown hair and pretty eyes!! Going 'AHHHHHHHHHHHH' all over the place and rubbing his nose with a bowl and making his cute Charlie faces and making brownies that I just might try because my mum said they looked nice. Michael Aranda and some other girl that looks pretty was in it too and Michael is HOT!

Now for something that hasn't happened yet but is GOING TO happen! I'm making Oreo Cheesecake tomorrow!!! AND GUESS WHAT?! Just for reading this post, I'm gonna give YOU a slice! That's right, YOU!! Don't look over your shoulder, I'm talking to YOU! So come back in 24 hours and I'll have a slice of Oreo Cheesecake waiting for you! :D NO JOKE!

Is this post long enough? Do I need pictures? Oh crap maybe I do... Hang on I'll upload some..

Picture I drew in Little Cottage 2
